My approach to each of my services, and for each client, is ever-changing, depending on genre and style. It is fun, collaborative, and I think the story you are trying to tell IS the most important part to get right first. Not the grammar or the syntax necessarily, but the greater plot points of a novel.

Developmental Edits

The longest, and sometimes most difficult, phase of the editorial process. This is where we flush out all of the story elements, track character and plot movements (or holes) throughout the story, and find what works and what might need tweaking.

This is the longest and most arduous part.

Quick-Turn Proofreading

It is for the final edits and a few grammatical mistakes that we missed in the previous phases. It is a very important final phase in the overall editorial process.

If the editor is very capable, and consistent, it will take only about a week to do this part.

Professional Line Edit

Refreshing your tone, checking for deeper mistakes, and more detailed editing after the developmental phase is complete.
